Sexuality and Aging — What a Conference!

Our ground-breaking conference last week, “Sexuality and Aging: What Every Professional Needs to Know” was a tremendous success from all accounts, attracting 100 professionals from 14 states.

Plenaries on intimacy and sexual health, coupled with workshops on everything from adult toys to teaching techniques, gave professionals knowledge and skills they can use immediately in their work with adults in mid- and older age. Networking opportunities abounded, creating an environment buzzing with the excitement of people doing work on the cutting edge of sexuality.

The success of the Conference, bringing professionals from around the nation, proved for me the importance of the Consortium’s mission and the great need for this initiative,” said Consortium President Peggy Brick.

For many attendees, the conference was followed by the debut of the SilverSAR(tm), which challenged individuals to re-assess their attitudes, beliefs, and approaches to older adult sexuality. The enthusiastic response to this program ensures that the Consortium will continue to offer the SilverSAR(tm) in the future.

Many thanks to all of our presenters, attendees, to Widener’s staff and helpful graduate students, and Peggy Brick and Administrative Assistant Jessica Metzner for creating such a successful and important event.
