Online Resource for Violence Against Women

By Zelaika Clarke

Professionals and advocates working with older adults should be aware of a specialized section of VAWnet.org, an online resource center on violence against women. The site contains a special collection of materials related to preventing and responding to domestic and sexual violence in later life and elder abuse. The materials are drawn from the work of the National Clearinghouse on Abuse in Later Life (NCALL), National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA), National Adult Protective Services Agency (NAPSA) and other organizations.

The link below provides information about abuse in later life including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking. It includes resources that address the dynamics, research and cultural considerations. In addition, it offers resources targeted to older persons, family members, friends, caregivers, bystanders, and health care professionals.
