Graduate Student Joins Consortium Board of Directors

The Sexuality and Aging Consortium is pleased to welcome Katelyn Murray to her new role as Student Member, Board of Directors.  Murray is a dual-degree student, working toward master’s degrees in both Social Work and Human Sexuality. Murray’s interest in sexuality and aging started when her parents began opening up to her about their private life. Says Katelyn, “I became intrigued about how menopause, illnesses, and other bodily changes affect how couples communicate about and define sex and intimacy. I’ve always believed that people should have intimacy in their life until they pass away, and I am interested in helping make that happen by working with older adults in counseling.”

Murray has been instrumental in building Widener University student interest in the Consortium, and she is coordinating the student research Poster Session for the fall Sexuality, Intimacy and Aging Conference.

Murray has presented several sexuality education seminars for older adults and has conducted literature reviews on issues in aging. She says she looks forward to adding her perspectives to Board discussions while working to enhance Widener student interest in and involvement with the aging population.
